HENDERSON- All lanes of I-10 West have reopened, after a crash nearly 24 hours ago.

Thursday night, two 18-wheelers crashed into each each other at the foot of the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge. The wreck caused a large fire, and one of the trucks spilled its load of drilling mud, which turned the road very slick.

One of the trucks was traveling east when the driver crossed the median and hit the other head-on. One person was killed.

Traffic quickly began to build, and eventually the entire westbound stretch between Baton Rouge and Lafayette was closed. Traffic was detoured off at La. 415 at Lobdell onto La. 190.
