Final Jump Start public forum Tuesday
BATON ROUGE - The state Department of Education announced that the final public comment forum for the Jump Start initiative would be held Tuesday evening in Baton Rouge.
State Superintendent of Education John White will host the forum for parents, students, teachers, and community members to comment on the program's draft proposal.
Jump Start would create a series of career-oriented classes and workplace experiences designed to certify students in fields more likely to lead to high-paying jobs. Documents outlining the Jump Start program will also be posted online Tuesday for public review and comment, and remain posted for one month.
The Baton Rouge forum caps a nine-month series of public comment events White held around the state. After the period ends the program will go before the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education and the state legislature.
The forum will be Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 5 p.m. in the Louisiana Board Room of Baton Rouge Community College.
