The State Streamlining Commission recommended Wednesday that some ferry operations in Louisiana be closed. They are St. Francisville, White Castle, Reserve and Melville.
Under the proposal, St. Francisville would stop after construction of the new Audubon Bridge over the Mississippi is complete.
State reports show the ferries cost millions to operate and hardly generate any revenue. Drivers say the ferries help them avoid going miles out of the way.
