Feral hog problems growing in Felicianas
SAINT FRANCISVILLE- Ranchers in the Feliciana parishes say the state's efforts to control the feral hog population need to be expanded.
Current law allows you to hunt hogs at night with proper law enforcement notification. The night hunting is only allowed in months outside the traditional deer season months.
Ranchers like Craig Neal say the rules need to expand to year-round. Neal says many ranchers plant things like rye grass in September, and it only takes a few days for hogs to destroy cattle pastures after they are planted.
He says limits during hunting season hurt his ability to control the hog population during the most critical time.
