BATON ROUGE - It's been 100 days since the historic August flood. An estimated seven trillion gallons of rainwater was dumped across southeast Louisiana, according to FEMA. That's more than four times the amount of water in Lake Pontchartrain.

Tuesday FEMA announced more than 153,000 individuals and families registered for federal disaster assistance. Of those individuals, 125,000 met with Disaster Survivor Assistance specialists face-to-face and registered more than 4,00 applications.

More than 86,000 survivors were assisted at FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers.

Survivors received more than $729 million in disaster assistance through FEMA's Individuals and Households Program. Of that money, $575 million has gone to helping survivors find temporary housing solutions and rebuild their homes, according to FEMA.

More than 1,700 applicants are also taking advantage of the Transitional Sheltering Assistance program. The program, allowing eligible survivors to stay in hotel rooms paid for by FEMA, was recently extended through mid-December.

The agency also announced more than 1,500 flood victims are licensed into mobile housing units.

The state's Shelter at Home program has also played a significant role in the recovery, providing home repairs for more than 21,600 Louisianan applicants.

Overall FEMA has awarded more than $222.6 million in disaster assistance for flood related costs such as road reconstruction, emergency response operations and debris removal.
