FEMA center opens in Pointe Coupee Parish

NEW ROADS - FEMA workers opened a Disaster Recovery Center in Pointe Coupee Parish this morning to help people there file for help dealing with damage caused by Hurricane Isaac.

The center opens at 11 a.m. today at the Scott Civic Center in New Roads, with regular hours of 8 a.m. To 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday until further notice.

FEMA specialists will be at the center to help homeowners, renters and business owners with uninsured or underinsured damage to their home or personal property file the proper forms with FEMA and the U. S. Small Business Administration, as well as to answer questions about available aid.

People can register for assistance online or by calling 1-800-621-3362 or (TTY) 1-800-462-7585. The toll-free telephone numbers operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
