Feed a Family needs donations
BATON ROUGE - WBRZ along with the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank and the Baton Rouge Clinic needs your help to keep food on the table for some families.
The 29th Feed A Family Food Drive aims to feed the hungry and restock shelves of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank during the holidays. Food collected from the drive will be distributed through the food bank, which serves 11 parishes in and around the area.
People are urged to place non-perishable food items such as canned goods in the "Feed-A-Family" barrels in grocery stores.
"It's key for people to donate. We can't do it without our community. Our community is so supportive with providing food, providing funds, and providing time to help us. We can't do it without anyone of those three things," said Mike Manning, CEO of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
Last year Feed A Family collected more than 190,000 pounds of food, which provided more than 150,000 meals.
On Friday head out to Matherne's on Bluebonnet, where WBRZ will be out all day collecting food. Donations are also welcome. For more information, visit the Feed A Family page at WBRZ.com.
