BATON ROUGE - The federal government will no longer be using the color code system for terror updates.
Some updates will be released using social media networks like Twitter and Facebook.
The state has routinely used social media for critical information since Hurricane Gustav.
About two million people logged on to the Governor's Office of Homeland Security Facebook page during and after the storm.
Last year the state used Google to help give detailed information on Facebook and Twitter.
Updates included locations where oil was impacting the coast.
State GOHSEP Director Mark Cooper says the office is also working on an App that will help families make disaster plans.
