State officials plan to give $22.7 million in federal aid to commercial fishermen and seafood dealers for recovery from hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
Fishermen and seafood dealers will be able to apply for low-interest loans and grants, or use the money to upgrade their gear.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the Louisiana Recovery Authority will meet next week to go over details of the recovery program.
Robert Barham, head of state wildlife department, said Louisiana fisheries suffered more than $750 million in economic losses between 2005 and 2008.
