FBI agent shot during rescue of kidnapped child
BOSSIER CITY - A 24-year-old man died in an altercation with an FBI agent in this northwest Louisiana city Tuesday afternoon.
The man was identified as Jesse Williams hours after he and the federal agent were shot while authorities were rescuing a nine-year-old. The child, identified as Caitlyn Williams, was reported missing in Texas. The child is Williams' niece, KTBS TV reported on its website.
An Amber Alert was issued for the child and the pair were seen traveling together after she went missing.
The FBI was releasing only limited information about the situation.
Specifics of the shooting were not released, but the TV station reported the agent was shot in the leg. The young girl was safely recovered, the FBI said.
