Father loses son in deadly house fire
BATON ROUGE - A house fire killed one person overnight in Baton Rouge, according to firefighters.
Crews arrived to the scene just before 10 p.m. Thursday in the 1600 block of 79th Ave.
Investigators believe the fire started in the kitchen, before spreading to other areas of the home.
Firefighters managed to rescue one man by pulling him through a window, but could not find his son.
The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Jonas Spears. No other injuries were reported.
More than half of the home was damaged in the fire. The exact cause remains under investigation.
