Father and daughter shot through front door
BATON ROUGE - Police are looking for a motive in a Thursday night shooting on Old Hammond Hwy that hospitalized a 32-year-old man and his 5-year-old daughter.
According to investigators, an unidentified person knocked on the door of the home in the 12000 block of Old Hammond Hwy, and fired several gunshots into the building when an occupant opened the door.
A 32-year-old man was shot three times in the chest and hip, and a 5-year-old girl was hit once in the hip. Both were taken to an area hospital and treated for injuries that were not life threatening, according to police.
People who live nearby say they're ready to move after seeing what could have happened to them.
"It's nerve racking because I have small kids, you know, because anything could happen. I'm lucky that I wasn't home," said one neighbor. "It just makes me think like was it something personal or was it just something random? So I mean anybody could be a target."
Investigators say there are no suspects in connection with the shooting at this time, and there is no known motive.
The front door was riddled with four bullet holes with another bullet hole in the door frame and one in the wall near the front door.
