Fatal crash leaves 1 dead, 1 in serious condition
BATON ROUGE- Police are trying to figure out what caused a truck crash that killed one person and left another in critical condition.
Louisiana State Police say Tasha Gross, 35, and Marcus Castille, 42, were traveling southbound on LA 410 when the Chevy Avalanche they were riding in flipped over. Neither of them were wearing a seatbelt. Gross was thrown out of the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Castille was partially thrown from the truck and was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital with serious injuries. Police haven't determined who was driving at the time of the crash or what caused the vehicle to flip over.
A toxicology sample was taken from Gross and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab to determine whether impairment was a factor. A toxicology sample could not be taken from Castille, due to the severity of his injuries.
The crash is still under investigation.
