GONZALES - Two fast food workers from Gonzales quickly found themselves on the wrong side of the law, after police said they tried to fake a robbery.

Gonzales Police say on Feb. 5, 21-year-old Jonathan Gradney and 25-year-old Jamie Lusk faked a robbery in order to steal money from the Sonic where Gradney was working.

Gradney originally told police he was taking the trash out when he was attacked and robbed of the store's deposit for the evening.  However, investigators said the day before his manager had filed a report claiming Gradney had tried to get another Sonic employee to help him, and that employee informed the manager of his plans.

Detectives said when they questioned Gradney he confessed that he and another man, Jamie Lusk, had come up with the plan and that Lusk even punched him a couple of times to make the robbery seem real.  Police said Lusk was on his break from Taco Bell when the crime was committed.

Gradney faces felony theft and falsifying a police report charges, while Lusk faces a charge of felony theft.
