BATON ROUGE- LSU Sports Information Director Michael Bonnette confirmed reports that Brad Wing is suspended for the Chick-fil-A Bowl for a violation of team rules.
There's no word on what team rules Wing violated, but Tiger fans are disappointed the star kicker won't hit the field in Atlanta.
"He needs to get his head on right and remember why he's at LSU and why he's as good of an athlete as he is to begin with and don't lose sight of the goal and don't lose sight of the prize," said Randy Caminita, Jr. when he learned of the news.
"I think the problem is they're all 18-21 years old and they're in college and they're trying to live their lives the way most college kids do, unfortunately for them they're not normal college kids," said John Gahagan, an LSU fan.
Some fans are just happy a more involved player isn't getting punished.
"As far as a key player, he would've been an asset, but we won't be lost without him," said Alyssa Garofalo, who was disappointed to hear Wing won't play.
The red-shirt sophomore averaged 44.4 yards per punt last year and 44.8 this year.
Freshman Jamie Keehn, another Australian, will replace Wing for the bowl game. Keehn kicked in the season opener when Wing was out.
