Family spared in crash pays respects to dead pilot
BATON ROUGE- The family who was inside a house just minutes before a plane crashed on top of it and exploded paid respects to the pilot who was killed in the crash.
Wednesday, the Smith family spent the evening at funeral services for John Fowler. Fowler died Friday when his plane fell from the sky.
"It's the christian thing to do," Tasha Smith told WBRZ News 2.
Fowler reported mechanical problems with the plane just after taking off. His friends and family members said he knew how and where to put the plane down to avoid more tragedy. No one was hurt or killed in the neighborhood where he crashed.
Fowler's burial is set for Thursday.
