BATON ROUGE - The family of a 21-year-old man gunned down on Alliquippa Street Sunday night believe they know who pulled the trigger.
Francise Pender, the aunt of shooting victim Jeremiah Pate, said her nephew testified against a man on trial for murder in August, and had been receiving threats ever since then. She said she saw the two men almost attack her nephew once before.
"My initial thought was, 'They just talkin' smack. They ain't fixing to do nothing, but the boy is dead!" Pender said.
Pender said she heard from people in the area that Pate met up with the two men as he walked towards home on Alliquippa Street.
Pate's cousin, Ben Allen, had just dropped Pate off.
"He told me he wanted to get out and go to the store and walk to the house," Allen said.
Police do not have any suspects, but Allen is confident they will make an arrest in his cousin's slaying.
"Nowadays, the streets talk a lot," Allen said.
