Family pet killed in overnight house fire
BATON ROUGE – Investigators with the Baton Rouge Fire Department are looking into an house fire that killed a dog early Monday morning.
Fire crews responded to the blaze in the 1800 block of Birch St. near N. 19th around 3a.m. It took crews about 30 minutes to get the fire under control.
Crews had a hard time getting in the house because of burglar bars on the doors.
The BRFD rescue unit were able to pry open the door.
No one was home at the time of the fire, but a dog was inside. He was found dead.
Investigators are ruling this fire as arson and ask anyone with information to contact the Baton Rouge Fire Department Arson Investigators at 225-354-1419.
