BATON ROUGE - Relatives of a Baton Rouge boxer called for the person who shot him to come forward and turn themselves in to authorities Wednesday.

The family of Emanuel Augustus, 39, said he remains in a coma after Monday's shooting. Doctors told them it's a waiting game at this point to see if he recovers.

Stephanie Cofield Augustus, his aunt, says she is in shock at what happened to her nephew.

"Come forward and talk to them. Don't worry about what people might say," said Cofield-Augustus.

Augustus was walking home from the gym around 8 p.m. Monday when the shooting happened, according to police. The boxer was known as "The Drunken Master" and once faced Floyd Maywether Jr. in what the famous fighter described as one of the toughest bouts in his life.

On Tuesday, investigators said they were looking for a red car which might be connected to the shooting. If you know anything about this incident, please call the Violent Crimes Unit at (225) 389-4869.
