BATON ROUGE - Family members of two girls who survived a DWI crash Tuesday said the girls had surgery late in the evening to repair broken bones sustained in the crash.

Bones in driver Camille Carline's arm were shattered.  Her sister, Colleen Carline, 16, suffered a broken back.  Their 15-year-old sister, Claire, was killed in the wreck in Ascension Parish.

The two oldest girls underwent surgery at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital.

State Police said the three sisters were in 17-year-old Camille's new car, driving to school at Dutchtown High Tuesday morning when Dwight Perrilloux, 19, crossed over the center line of Highway 74 and hit the girls' car head-on.

Perrilloux was taken to a hospital and then booked into jail.  It is suspected he was on drugs when the crash happened.

"Our troopers that came and talked to Mr. Perrilloux at the scene and at the hospital determined it was quite possible he was under the influence of some type of narcotic and that's why they placed him under arrest," Trooper Jared Sandifer said.

State police took a blood sample from Perrilloux and the results are pending.

"Hopefully, we will get these results back in a timely manner to determine if impairment was a factor," Sandifer said.
