Family displaced by late night house fire
BATON ROUGE - An investigation is underway to figure out what sparked a fire that destroyed a home late Monday night.
Firefighters were called to the 9500 block of Windward Rd. near Staring Ln. around 11p.m.
Everyone inside the two-story home got out safely. The American Red Cross is now assisting the displaced residents.
One of the occupants of the home heard a noise before seeing flames in the kitchen. Those flames then spread to the attic.
The home is considered a total loss.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
