Familes recover from apartment fire
BATON ROUGE - The apartment fire that sent one man to the hospital for burn injuries has put dozens of people out of their homes.
The fire happened at Broadmoor Plantation Apartments Thursday night. Firefighters said when they arrived on the scene, they discovered a fire in the kitchen of one of the units. While they were putting that fire out, it spread to the unit above it. Nearly ten units were damaged.
On Friday, families went into their homes to look at the damage that was done.
"We were having dinner and then we smelled the smoke. It was coming from the AC," said Nelson Paulino, one of the residents. "We lost a couple of things, yeah; clothes, TV, some stuff. But that's something material. We can replace that. Thank God we're fine and we're alive."
According to authorities, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
