False River closed to boaters
POINTE COUPEE - False River has been closed to boaters due to high water.
The Pointe Coupee police jury made the decision because the water level has reached 18 feet, requiring the closure.
The river is still several feet from flood stage.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers signed off on a plan today to improve water quality in False River. It is being funded by $1.5 million from the state.
The police jury now has to approve the project.
