The Louisiana Department of Transportation says the $130,000 LED Solar Test Program is scheduled to start next week at False River Regional Airport near New Roads.

The airport is an ideal place to test the system because of its well-maintained infrastructure.

The Federal Aviation Administration could recommend the system be used nationwide between 2013 and 2015 if testing at False River airport goes well.
