Fallen trees cleared, I-12 reopens
ALBANY- Westbound lanes of I-12 closed Tuesday night and authorities warned drivers to stay off the interstate until early Wednesday morning because trees fell onto the highway.
A State Police advisory reported at about 10:30 that I-12 between Albany and Holden had closed to Baton Rouge-bound traffic.
"Expect heavy delays and heavy congestion," the alert reported.
Highway 190 is a detour.
Authorities were on the scene assessing the situation.
Earlier Tuesday, a strong thunderstorm moved across this area of the region. By 11 p.m., the weather cell was gone.
