Fallen officer memorial scheduled for May 7
METAIRIE, La. - Police scheduled a memorial service for May to honor officers who have sacrificed their lives to protect and serve Louisiana communities.
The 13th annual memorial service will feature remarks from parish officials, a 21-gun salute, and dedications for the 10 officers being enshrined this year.
Attendees will also see musical performances by country music recording artist Derik Schumacher and Deputy Sheriff Michael Brooks from the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office in memory of the officers killed in the line of duty.
The service will be held on Wednesday, May 7 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home and Cemeteries at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
