Fallen firefighters honored
BATON ROUGE - Firefighters from across Louisiana gathered today to honor fallen firefighters.
Fire agencies and family members recognized the bravery of those killed in the line of duty.
"When you look at the fire service, these are men and women that run towards what others flee, " said State Ag Commissioner Mike Strain.
A monument was unveiled to memorialize the 104 municipal and wildland firefighters in the state that were killed in the line of duty and their names are etched into a Wall of Honor.
"It's a day to remember my father. Not only him, but everybody else who lost their lives in firefighting," said Kyle Osenenko whose father was killed in 2011 during a fire in Livingston Parish.
