ExxonMobil donates $300,000 to area middle school for new lab
BATON ROUGE - ExxonMobil is donating $300,000 to Brookstown Middle Magnet Academy for the schools new Aquaponics lab.
According to a news release from Foundation EBR, the East Baton Rouge Parish school will host a ribbon cutting and white coat ceremony for the new lab on Thursday, Oct. 12.
Aquaponics refers to any environment raising aquatic animals and plants in one area.
The lab is funded by ExxonMobil and Foundation EBR as an "innovative project to develop STEM-based skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving and leadership development in students."
The addition to Brookstown Middle Magnet Academy will be unveiled at the school on Oct. 12 at 10 a.m.
