WALKER - Livingston Parish called in extra patrols to monitor trick-or-treating Friday.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office and Walker Police Department both had additional patrols to keep the peace and search for offenders.  Halloween was changed to Friday because of the forecast predicting bad weather.

In Walker, officers were busy since the change also meant trick-or-treating and a high school football game.

"We're making sure everyone has a safe and happy Halloween and that there are a lot more treats than there are tricks," said Walker Police Capt. John Sharp.

Parents noticed.  Dana Bramlett handed out candy in the Three Lakes neighborhood and said she felt safe.

"Very safe, very safe," said Bramlett. "There's always cops patrolling and you know, it's a safe neighborhood."

Police say they enjoy being out on nights like Halloween, a community policing kind of event among the people. Some officers brought along candy and handed it out to children in costumes.
