CENTRAL- People who live off Joor Road credit a neighbor for handling a crime that could have quickly escalated into something more severe.

Monday morning, Shane Taylor, 21, is accused of a rash of burglaries. The homeowner of one house he's accused of hitting fought back.

"I just happened happened to glance over and the light came on and sure enough he tried to open up my door," Vince Ma said.

Ma chased the man off his property, caught him and held him until authorities arrived.

" I told him not to make it worse just don't move," Ma told WBRZ News 2 in an exclusive interview. Ma said he told the man, "don't even talk to me because I don't want to hear none of it... I've heard it a million times."

East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's deputies stepped in about ten minutes later.

"He's lucky it didn't turn out worse, and somebody getting shot," Ma said.
