EXCLUSIVE: 'Golden Ticket' tour of area chocolate factory
PONCHATOULA- WBRZ News 2 got the "Golden Ticket" to go inside the Elmer's Chocolate factory in Tangipahoa Parish.
The family business has been making treats since 1855.
"You can't make it any better... It's as good as it is gonna get," said Lucy Prine, who works for the company.
The factory can manufacture about 15,000,000 of one if its most famous pieces of chocolate, the Heavenly Hash Egg, for Easter.
Now, chocolate scientists are creating more treats with local flare.
"The company is 150-years-old, we must be doing something right," said Robert A. Nelson.
"We have retail chains that aren't here anymore... But Elmer's is always there."
