NEW ORLEANS - A lack of grocery stores in a New Orleans neighborhood still recovering from Hurricane Katrina will be the focus of a weekend food and music event.
It's called the "Grocery Store for a Day" event. And it will feature what its organizers are calling an outdoor "pop-up" grocery in the parking lot of a church in the Lower 9th Ward.
Organizers say Saturday's day long event will point to the need for a grocery store in a neighborhood where some residents are more than three miles away from the nearest grocery.
The event also will feature health screenings and cooking demonstrations.
