Evacuations expand as rain continues falling in Colorado
BOULDER, Colo. - Authorities in Boulder County, Colorado, say 17 people are unaccounted for amid the flooding that has inundated the city of Boulder.
The water has isolated communities in the Rocky Mountain foothills, and left them without power or phone service.
Authorities urged thousands of additional people in the city of Boulder and in nearby towns to leave their homes, as rivers and creeks rose to dangerous levels.
The city of Fort Collins is urging residents of three neighborhoods to evacuate this morning after a surge on a local river sent water over the top of a reservoir.
Recent wildfires have worsened the flooding, stripping the landscape of ground cover that would normally absorb the rain.
