Essen Lane Widening
BATON ROUGE- City leaders will break ground on new construction today. The Essen widening project is the latest in the city-parish Green Light program.
Essen Lane is one of the busiest and most congested roads in Baton Rouge.The Department of Transportation and Development is working together with the Green Light program on two separate projects to ease some of the congestion.
Essen will be widened into a six lane road. After that construction is complete the Green Light program will begin working on widening the on and off ramps to the interstate.
Emergency services have been made aware of the construction. They say they're working on a plan for alternative routes so their respond times aren't affected.
People with the Green Light project says they're working very closely with Our Lady of the Lakes and area businesses to make sure everything goes smoothly.
Groundbreaking for this project will be at 10 a.m. this morning at the Burden Museum and Gardens in Baton Rouge.
