Essen Lane construction begins today
BATON ROUGE- The Essen Lane Widening Project is set to begin on Monday. Drivers should expect delays around Essen Lane at I-10.
Crews have already spent several weeks surveying Essen, in preparation of the project. The construction is designed to eliminate traffic problems like "bottlenecking." The road will be widened into a six lane road. After adding the lanes, crews will begin working on the interstate ramps.
Essen is one of the busiest and most congested roads in Baton Rouge. The Department of Transportation and Development is working with the Green Light program to smooth the traffic flow.
People with the Green Light program say they're working with Our Lady of the Lake and business owners in the area, to make sure everything goes smoothly.
