A Louisiana State Penitentiary inmate who escaped and stayed on the run for four days last year had two years added to his life sentence.
Henry Smith pleaded guilty in state district court in St. Francisville to simple escape and drew a two-year sentence that is to run consecutively to his life sentence for second-degree murder.
Smith, a trusty assigned to pick up trash along prison roads, walked off the prison grounds on Sept. 10, 2009, and was not captured until Sept. 14.
Smith was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted in the slaying of a man in Jefferson Parish during an attempted robbery.
