Entergy sending crews to help with Irene outages

BATON ROUGE- Utility crews from major Louisiana power providers are heading east to restore any outages from Hurricane Irene.

Entergy Corp. and Cleco Corp. are sending a total of 209 workers to Washington, D.C., to assist Pepco Holdings Inc. Pepco serves about 770,000 customers in Washington and Maryland. Entergy also is relocating 92 contractors who had been sent to Florida to Maryland.

Pepco has helped with post-storm restoration in Louisiana, including after hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2055.
