HAHNVILLE - The St. Charles Parish's Emergency Operations Center says there wasn't any connection between an oil fire on the grounds of the Waterford 1 and 2 power plants and a power failure that affected hundreds of Hahnville homes and businesses.
The Times-Picayune reports that nobody was hurt in the fire, which was reported about 8:30 a.m. Sunday. It says power was restored to the area about 9:30 a.m.
Entergy spokesman Carl Rhode says Waterford 1 and 2 are powered by fossil fuel, and the fire did not affect the adjacent Waterford 3 nuclear power plant.
