Engineers talk-up plans for traffic connector in BR
BATON ROUGE- Traffic engineers touted a plan to ease congestion around the Mall of Louisiana Tuesday.
The Picardy-Perkins Connector is a part of the on-going Green Light Plan across the city.
The $25 million project calls for a four-laned highway with a raised median and sidewalks. According to a project overview, "this project will provide a connection from the I-10 Frontage Road - Picardy overpass currently under construction to Perkins Road."
"Ideally, if we had a choice, we wouldn't want it at all," said Jay McGee. "But, unfortunately it's going to go... So we have to find the best way to work with it," McGee added.
The project is still in the design phase and a date has not been set on when construction will begin.
