New info: Victim identified after drowning at Gardere wastewater treatment plant
BATON ROUGE - Investigators have released the name of a man who drowned at a Gardere area sewage treatment plant on Saturday afternoon.
Police identified the individual as Michael Preston, and said an autopsy will be performed on the man at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 13. The additional circumstances surround Preston’s death will be available after that time.
According to EMS, the East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office responded to the Baton Rouge Wastewater Treatment plant around 1:40 p.m. Saturday. First responders say the person was driving a lawnmower before he drowned.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s office says that the worker was working on "some equipment" and fell.
