Emergency declared for Ascension Parish
GONZALES - President Tommy Martinez declared a state of emergency Friday in Ascension Parish for Tropical Storm Karen.
Rick Webre, the director of the Ascension Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, asked residents to keep an eye on local broadcasts this weekend and take precautionary measures.
Webre said sand bags are stockpiled and points of distribution will be advertised through the local media if they are needed.
