Electronic Social Security payments
WASHINGTON D.C. - The U.S. Department of Treasury today kicked off a one year countdown to all-electronic Social Security payments.
Treasurer of the United States Rosie Rios started the official countdown clock today.
On March 1, 2013 all federal benefit recipients must receive their Social Security, and other federal benefit payments electronically.
Rios encouraged anyone who receives federal benefits to begin the switch now to electronic payments.
Rios said electronic payments will save taxpayers $1 billion dollars over the next 10 years.
