Eight fire trucks needed to battle fire on Jones Creek Rd.
BATON ROUGE - The Saint George and East Side Fire Departments faced some challenges battling a fire in a vacant storage building Thursday afternoon.
The building in the 4500 block of Jones Creek Rd. near Coursey Blvd. was about 1500 feet off the road, making it difficult for crews to reach.
It took seven St. George Fire trucks and another from East Side about 20 minutes to contain the fire, but they battled hot spots over the next 45 minutes.
According to a spokesman with the St. George Fire Department, a fire investigator is on scene Thursday night to determine the cause. There were no injuries, but the building is considered a "total loss".
