BAKER - No one was hurt when a tornado passed through Baker just before 7 a.m. today, but there was plenty of damage left to be cleaned up.
The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF1 tornado caused a four-mile long swath of damage. Kay and Ken Berthelot own a car wash along Hwy. 19 which lost half its roof in the storm.
"This is pretty devastating," said Kay. "I mean, the bricks came up with the roof. The walls are crumbled, the bricks are all over the ground."
Samuel Sims was working when the tornado passed by.
"The window was snow white," said Sims. "You couldn't see nothing, everything turned snow white."
About 150 homes were damaged. There is a walking curfew in effect from dusk until dawn, and a shelter is open at Bethany World Prayer Center in Zachary.
People with issues overnight in Baker can call the city emergency operation center by dialing 911.
