BATON ROUGE - Edwin Edwards will soon be released from federal prison, according to his family.
The former governor's daughter said in a press release he will be released to a federal halfway house sometime this month, though the location is under wraps.
Edwards will spend six months in the halfway house, and will not be able to speak to media, as part of the Federal Bureau of Prisons rules.
The four-term governor was jailed in October 2002 for a bribery and extortion scheme to rig the riverboat casino licensing process.
