BATON ROUGE- There's no doubting that Edwin Edwards is trying to be his old, wise-cracking self as he returns to politics.
Monday, announcing his candidacy for Congress, Edwards had a room full of people laughing and clapping like he did two decades ago. Later, on WBRZ News 2 at 4:00, he pushed the envelope even further talking about skeletons and a Washington that has hit rock bottom.
Here are some of the 2014 Edwards one-liners.
"I'm gonna run. I have problems. I don't have any skeletons in my closet. They're all outside, running around talking to Republicans and detractors," Edwards told WBRZ's Michael Marsh in his first live TV interview since announcing he was running.
"If he succeeds in beating me, he will have beat a giant," Edwards said about losing the election.
"No matter how much you dislike me, brother, I can't make it any worse than it is," he said about the situation at the nation's capitol and how he would fit into the atmosphere.
"Nothing is happening," he said. "Everybody's disgruntled. Everybody's unhappy. Government is not serving them."
