ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST - State police say a 76-year-old man riding a bicycle was killed Thursday night after an SUV struck him along La. 18.

Investigators say Larry Young was traveling eastbound on the highway when a Cadillac Escalade hit him from behind.

Young was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV, 66-year-old Paul Oubre Jr., was not hurt in the crash.

Police say Oubre registered a blood alcohol level above the legal limit.

The crash remains under investigation.
