The man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in the Gardere area last week has turned himself in, according to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office.
19-year-old Martin Burnell Robertson was wanted for Second Degree Murder in the death of Javon Brooks on Friday, and surrendered to authorities earlier today.
Deputies had been called to Skysail Avenue after a neighbor said they heard shots being fired, and found Brooks with a gunshot wound to his head. He was taken to a local hospital, and later died from his wounds.
On Monday, detectives arrested 20-year-old Devyn Montaj Toussaint in suspicion of being an accessory to the murder. They said he helped transport Robertson out of the area after the shooting and hid the gun he used.
Robertson was booked into the parish jail in suspicion of second degree murder.
