EBRSO: Reward offered for debit card thief
BATON ROUGE – Authorities are searching for a man that was spotted using a debit card reported stolen from a vehicle last month.
According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, the card was stolen along with a purse and checkbook early in the morning from a vehicle on the 5800 block of Mapleton Drive on Nov. 21.
Over the next hour the card was used at several different businesses on O’Neal Lane, and detectives found surveillance video of someone using the card to buy a carton of cigarettes from a gas station, and later at a fast food drive-through window.
The person using the card was a white male between 20 and 30 years old, wearing a black-colored hooded jacket and a black-and-white colored cap. He was driving an older-model red Chevy or GMC pickup with a white or silver stripe on the bottom portion of it.
The Sheriff’s Office is offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest in this case. Anyone who knows the identity of the man using the card, or anything else about the case, should call EBRSO at (225) 389-5000.
