EBRSO: Man shot in head over cell phone
BATON ROUGE - Detectives arrested an East Baton Rouge man Monday after they said he shot someone in the head after taking his cell phone.
Deputies accused James Mills, 18, of first degree murder and armed robbery after the shooting in the 8000 block of Bayou Fountain Avenue Sunday night.
Investigators said Mills and another man came up to the victim, 24-year-old Hancy Sanchez, outside of Sanchez's apartment complex around 11:14 p.m. and asked to use his cell phone. Deputies said Sanchez gave them his phone, but tried to get it back when they asked for his password. Investigators said Mills then pulled a gun and shot Sanchez in the head.
Sanchez was taken to the hospital, but died from his wounds. Detectives identified Mills as the suspect and arrested him at his home Monday morning.
